She looks rather perturbed in this picture, though.Ĭhicken eyes are so… glaring, aren’t they? :’D ![]() □ ) Buttercup is also quite small, and pretty sweet. (Carmen is my youngest sister and chicken-wrangler for this photoshoot. Ha ha, I take that back – maybe Frightful IS a little terrifying, at least when she tries to escape. She’s not frightful-looking at all, but Megan named her that because the feather pattern reminded her of a hawk’s, which reminded her of Frightful the falcon in the My Side of the Mountain books. □ This is Frightful, Megan’s tiny chicken. Since there are only seven chickens, I’ll introduce them individually. I hope you enjoy meeting our new “pets,” my friends! □ They’re so much prettier and nicer than the boring old broiler-breeders we had at our poultry houses, ha ha! ![]() But it’s been fun taming them and watching them… and taking pictures. □Īll the hens are pretty young, some in the pullet stage and some almost ready to lay, so we haven’t gotten any eggs yet. We’ve been enjoying our break from the poultry houses we owned at our old farm, but we decided seven chickens wouldn’t be that much work, and we go through about three dozen eggs a week, so… yeah, they will come in handy. We brought back seven hens to start a little flock at our farm. ![]()
